KELLY XIAO COUNSELLING
ABOUT KELLY
Welcome! Thank you so much for dropping by.
I am a queer second-generation Chinese immigrant settler (pronouns: they/them) currently working as a counsellor (RCC, MACP) on the Unceded Coast Salish territories of the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, and Musqueam nations (Vancouver). I aim to bring a feminist, intersectional, and anti-oppressive lens to my practice.
Feeling understood by another person can be an incredibly transformative experience. I understand how vulnerable it can feel to seek support, and by landing on this website, you have already made the first step in your healing journey.
AREAS OF SPECIALITY
For more information, please see the "About" and "FAQ" sections.
SYSTEMIC/SOCIETAL FACTORS
The systemic impacts of larger society can create and maintain the problems we face in our mental health. In therapy, we can talk about these factors may show up for you and how to address them.
RACIALIZATION
Being a BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, or person of colour) brings a wealth of complex, unique experiences and histories. However, given the Western society that we live in, experiences of discrimination based on race/ethnicity can take its toll on mental health.
LGBTQ2S+
Whether you are wanting to explore gender identification, sexual orientation, or both, we can explore your experiences together. Finding spaces to fully embrace one's LGBTQ2S+ identity can be so important, so I will strive to create that space with you.
